As members of AITP Johnstown, we have been invited to attend the 2008 Information Security Forum presented by The Pittsburgh Chapter of ISSA for free. The following presentations will be included: Latest Trends in the Internet Threat Landscape - Patrick Gray, Cisco Attack and Penetration Testing and Automating Difficult Testing Techniques - David Kennedy, SecureState Computer Forensics: Unlocking the Mystery - Larry Kucera, E-Safe Technologies Combating the International Threat of Cyber Crime - A representative of the F.B.I. This event is open to the public, but is free to members of the Pittsburgh & Johnstown Chapters of AITP, InfraGard and ISSA. The September 2008 meeting of AITP Johnstown will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Boulevard Grille on Wednesday September 24th. The presentation will be Software Testing by Matthew Hoffman - Manager, Verification and Validation, Concurrent Technologies Corp. (CTC). Learn how thorough software testing is essential to the successful development and deployment of any application because it ensures the following: * The application can perform to functional and performance criteria set forth in the requirements. * The application is in compliance with industry standards for application quality assurance and testing. Matthew Hoffman has more than seven years of experience in the software development and testing field, having successfully led and completed testing efforts for several software applications developed at CTC. The AITP Johnstown April 2008 meeting will be held on April 23rd and feature a talk by Mike Hruska of ProblemSolutions, a local Johnstown software and technology consulting firm. Mike will be discussing business ecosystem coevolution for regional economic development... Rapid technological innovation, created by the global economy, has thrust the business world into constant and unpredictable change. As global changes impact our regional business ecosystem – organizations, small and large, must adapt. Strategies based on conventional competition and co-operation will evolve to include strategies based on co-evolution and coexistence. As companies adapt in concert, the growth of complex business ecosystems will change the way organizations operate, interact and organize.

Due to a speaker cancellation this month, we will not have a presentation for the January 17th at the BLVD Grille. We will still meet to discuss some new ideas to help market the group in the area. The AITP Johnstown chapter recently won a $250 incentive to help in this area. We are planning on putting banner ad's on various popular local websites to see if that will help drive new members to the group. We want to do more to help the group move forward and would like more ideas from you. We will raffle off a copy of Microsoft Vista Business Edition at the meeting this month.
